The Book of Golden Deeds for 2003 is honoring: Margaret Kobylus!

Book of Golden Deeds Award

Margaret Kobylus, President of Inland Northwest Candlelighters, was chosen as this year’s recipient. To help present the award, Barbara Rigsby, Connie Hill-Bunch, Debbie Hedin and her daughter, Crystal, joined Margaret.

Candlelighters is a charitable non profit organization offering a support system to meet some very practical needs of young cancer patients and their families. Their mission is to educate, support and advocate for families of children with cancer, survivors of childhood cancer, and the professionals who care for them. Margaret became aware of the group in 1992, when her daughter Angela was diagnosed with cancer. Upon her daughter’s death in 1997, she joined with other members to bring Candlelighters back. Margaret has been recognized and set up as an example of self-sacrifice, care and compassion. Margaret leads and directs the efforts supporting 100 families, volunteers, donors, and members. As Barbara Rigsby said, “No one could fill her shoes – she does this for the love of the children.”

Margaret is a shining example of volunteerism! Congratulations, Margaret!
