The Club donated a sum of money to the ADA County Sheriff's office to acquire/train a drug dog. The below is the response we received from the Sheriff's office, June 2009:

[...The] Exchange Club donated a sum of money to the Ada County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit towards the purchase of a new drug dog. The only stipulation for the generous donation was the new dog must be named "Nate". Well, our new dog Nate was added to the unit in April.
I have attached a photo of Nate next to his patrol car. Nate is a lab that is probably mixed with a boarder collie. He is very young, very close to a year old, but he is working out very well. He has a road ahead of him in order to perfect his skills but so far we are pleased with his performance.
Thanks again for the assistance in bringing such a great crime fighting tool to the citizens of Ada County. I never hesitate to tell the public that my dog, Shad, and the new dog, Nate, were purchased with the assistance of the Exchange Club and that they were both named after beloved members of your fine organization.
